Honours
Entrance requirements
The prerequisites for entry to fourth-year honours in Philosophy are:
- completion of all the requirements for the BA;
- completion of a major in Philosophy;
- an average of H2A or higher over the second/third-year subjects within the major
It should also be noted that average grades required for entry may be higher than the faculty requirement if more students apply than we can accommodate.
Application Procedure
Applications for honours entry are made via the University of Melbourne on-line application system.
After submitting application details via the web, your application must be printed and lodged, with any necessary attachments, at the Faculty of Arts Office preferably by 31 October (for semester one entry) or 31 May (for semester two entry). However please note that late applications until the beginning of semester will be considered. For further details go to: Arts Faculty Honours.
Please also note that mid-year entry is possible.
If you are offered a place, you will be sent a research proposal form that must be submitted before December 14th.
Please contact the Philosophy Honours coordinator, Dr Francois Schroeter, regarding specific queries about our honours program.
